課程概述 |
This course explores how we may employ fragments, incomplete forms or information to better engage with the world of opinions in the arts and humanities. Seeing from the perspective of multidisciplinary inquiry, this course utilizes the concept of empowered agency that derives from animals’ instincts and strategies of coping with diverse species and new environments. It is suggested that we develop the ethics and approaches of working together with companion agents or disciplines who or which may provide us with new ways of viewing and thinking. Meanwhile, we are likely to devise unique interpretations of the past or certain phenomena on the basis of such inter- or trans-agency. Equipped with viewpoints and skills of multiple disciplines, we have the greater chance to form mental entities that serve to update certain opinions or assumptions in our area of study. All in all, this course integrates essential topics and approaches in semiotics, history of art and science, and neuropsychology for an increase in our chance of surviving the world of opinions. |
課程目標 |
This course guides students to reflect on the following issues: (1) how we can improve approaches for studying art, nature and culture; (2) how we can apply semiotic thinking while working out tasks of all kinds. |
